Vibration Behaviour of External Payload on Rotorcraft


The RUAG developed ISSYS Pod (Integrated Self Protection System Pod) is an external countermeasure dispenser / threat sensor system designed to protect the rotorcraft from incoming surface-to-air and airto-air missiles.

The installation requirements such as pod location and the ability to position the system in all six axes combined with a low target weight for the pod to aircraft adapter required an in depth vibration analysis.

MotionView / MotionSolve was used to simulate the system response to external excitation. The simulation results were verified with lab vibration tests.
